We have had a few weekend trips to Phoenix and it is always so much fun!
We flew Southwest directly to Phoenix from Kansas City. The flights are always reasonable and this airline has no change fees. Our team stayed at the Weston Phoenix Downtown and I loved the location. We had beautiful views and could walk to a lot of restaurants. We also rented a car to be able to explore. The hotel was beautiful. Very nice workout facility, bar, and rooftop pool. It was expensive but we really enjoyed the location and amenities.
Sedona for the Day
We drove up to Sedona our first full day. It takes about 2 hours from Phoenix but worth the drive. We have done a few hikes and these were our favorites. We chose to do one hike around 11 and get lunch in between. Below is known as the Birthing Cave. It’s a secluded quiet hike that leads you to an amazing hidden cave. You access it at Long Canyon Trailhead. We happened to visit on Valentine’s Day. The cave looks like a heart from afar. Could be very romantic.
Birthing Cave/2 miles/easy hike
We ate lunch at Pisa Lisa. It was THE BEST!! They also had these beautiful pink margarita’s for Valentine’s Day.
Devil’s Bridge/4 Miles/more difficult
Farmer’s Market
The Farmers Market is every Saturday and its a short walk from the hotel. It has many vendors and was a great place to get breakfast/lunch.
Shopping and Eating
Breakfast
We walked to Snooze for breakfast. Great option! https://www.snoozeeatery.com/branches/2295/snooze-circle-records/
Lunch
There are plenty of options for good food and shopping around Phoenix. We ate lunch at the Fate Brewing Company in Scottsdale. It was delicious. https://fatebrewing.com/
We did some shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall. The girls enjoyed it. https://www.tangeroutlet.com/
Camelback/2.5 miles/medium
Camelback Mountain is a must while in Phoenix. Make sure you allow enough time as it takes about 2.5 miles each way. They have a “less difficult” and “more difficult” side. Allow about 3 hours total. Make sure you return to your car by nightfall or you will get a ticket. I recommend hiking up one side and coming down the other. I really think both trails are somewhat difficult but in different ways. They are on opposite sides so you would need to get an uber to take you to your car if you plan on attempting both trails. I am very scared of heights and the “easier” trail was more scary for me than the difficult one. Follow this link for more information. http://climbcamelback.com/
